  • What is HIV: Human immunodeficiency virus infection / acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a viral virus that attack the immune system and killed the cell that protect the body from diseases and infections. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that scientists have not yet found a cure for and it continue to spread.

During the first few weeks a person may experience a brief period of flu, tiredness and fatigue and as the virus develop the person become more infected.

HIV is transmitted primarily via unprotected sexual intercourse including anal and even oral sex. HIV is transfer through blood, DNA and needle. HIV can also transfer from mother to child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding.

The history of HIV/AIDS is very short. HIV arrived just thirty years ago and it has become one of the leading causes of death worldwide.

  •

How did HIV transmitted to human.

Human become in contact with HIV when they hunted and ate infected animals such as chimpanzee. During the late 1800s, HIV was transfer from monkeys to humans.  HIV attack and destroy the immune system and the body is no longer protected against viruses.

Who was first affected by HIV. During the 1980s, gay men and drug injectors were infected with the virus and doctors did not know what type of virus those people were diagnosed with. Doctors called it  “gay-related immune deficiency”.  The virus become unstoppable and more people were dying and still scientist did not know where the virus came from or how to treat the people. By late 1980s both genders were infected with the virus.

Researchers have discovered that there are two types of HIV, HIV-1 and HIV-2. Both types will destroy specific blood cells called CD4+T, which are important to help the body fight off diseases.

HIV is not a killer it just make the immune system weaker.
